Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

New / revised page: Mediahunter (German only)

For further information beyond the scope of this page, we have reactivated the site Mediahunter . You will find information on advertisers that we don't look at for the time being as well as databases for books, music and films, and references to antiquarian shops, which caught our attention because of their specific offer. Take a look inside!

Why can't I see all results for my search?

The result display is limited due to restrictions of the advertisers and to avoid long response times. If you receive more than 100 results, you should repeat the search with additional search terms.

What keywords should I enter in order to obtain an optimal search result?

The most important keywords are those that clearly distinguish the matching books from othersw. If possible, avoid frequently occurring terms like "manual" or "ABC". Whenever possible, use only terms which occur surely in the offers.

To my search, I only got deals from Amazon. Why?

Maybe actually only Amazon has offers for your desired book. More likely, however, is an error in the query, e.g. author "Hemingwya" instead of "Hemingway". Amazon can correct these input errors automatically and sends relevant results. Many other advertiser don't do that.

I feel that there must be much more results for my search. What can I do to see these offers?

Maybe there is a writing error in your search criteria(letters omitted or twisted sequence). For Spelling suggestions, please visit Wörterbuch.de (German only).
Maybe you made a spelling mistake. Popular misspellings, see e.g. Common spelling mistakes (German only).
On the other hand, it may also be worthwhile to seek consciously with misspelled words, so got a search on "agressive" (correct spelling: "aggressive") immediately more than 200 results.

Why can't I specify that I want to see only new or used books?

The distinction between "new" and "used" unfortunately is not unique.
One example is the Amazon - Directive for the state "used / like new": Obviously unread in top condition". The book isn't only unread but even obviously unread - and that we would normally call "new". On the other hand, for example, some advertisers on eBay offer used copies as new.

Why can't I specify that I want to have only deals from a special country?

Unfortunately, there is no way to see this surely. Sometimes it means where the copy has been printed, sometimes the language the book is written in, and sometimes the country where the publisher or the advertiser is located.

Why can't I specify that I only want to see CDs at the music search?

Not all advertisers describe their offer clearly, and we don't want to hide anything that might match your search. If you see too many results enter "must contain: CD" in the section "Fine Filtering".

Why can't I specify that I only want to see DVDs at the film search?

Not all advertisers describe their offer clearly, and we don't want to hide anything that might match your search. If you see too many results enter "must contain: DVD" in the section "Fine Filtering".

Where can I order from you? I don't find any order form.

Directly with us you can't order anything, we operate a search engine, no shop. If you want to buy something pleas use the button "Details / Order" at the results page.

Abbreviations

See Wikipedia: List of booksellers' abbreviations.

The use of daistesja.de is free. How do you finance it?

If you have found what you have searched for, and buy this by clicking "Details / Buy", we will receive a commission from the advertiser platform (AbeBooks, Amazon, etc.).

Are the search results influenced by the payment of commissions?

No, we show you all our results, in the order of prices including shipping costs.
We also don't exclude any advertiser. All advertisers who offer us an interface for searching their data are taken even if we don't receive any commission.

Sometimes I see different prices (higher or lower) on the advertisers' site from the prices on your site. Why?

Comparison shopping and search engines as our one read the offers not directly from the database of the provider but from a file copied by the advertiser.
This is because otherwise the response time would take too long. As the copy is done sometimes only once per day there may be some differences that we can't avoid.
